How To Conserve Bandwidth

There are many hosting providers for TLDs. However, they charge by how much bandwidth you use a month, and the most annoying thing is when you click on a video, picture, or file, and the thing says that your bandwidth is exceeded. It also shuts down your site until a new month starts. First off, don't use the host for images. I recommend tinypic.com. They are a great image and video host, but don't host normal files, like pdf, exe, zip, or other extensions. If you have a few files you would like to make available for download, I'd say fileden.com or hotlinkfiles.com, or boxstr.com. They all have a bandwidth limit, but look much more professional than using Rapidshare or Megaupload for your files. Then, get a weebly.com subdomain. After that, go to dot.tk and get a free you.tk domain name! That will cost you absolutely NOTHING AT ALL and will get you many free things. Thanks for reading!

Don't you hate the cost of those game guides? It's like $20 for a guide you'll probably read through and then trash. Well, there is a new site, called gamepressure.com that allows you to download free guides in flashy pdf format.

Above is the banner for the Bourne Conspiracy Guide. It turns out they don't actually make the guides themselves, but they just provide links to places, in this case some website in Poland. You will have to sign up, but if you just want an idea of what they are like, below is a link I copied from their site that leads

They're pretty neat. There is also a World of Warcraft Burning Crusade guide there, so I would advise you to check it out!

There is always the choice: pay or steal? Well, now you don't have to pay. And, yes, they will work on your iPod. And no, you won't have to use P2P, or any annoying file hosting service like RapidShare. Below is my handwritten article, which I also published on downloadimeem.tk:

Did you know that you can DOWNLOAD ANY SONG FROM IMEEM IN MP3 FORMAT?

The answer is probably not. IMEEM is a legal musical social-networking website that's wildly popular. There are many steps involved in this, so pay close attention. Please note that I will never ask you to install anything or go to any website that has any chance of harming your computer!

Step 1: Open up 3 tabs. For the first, go to IMEEM.
For the next, go to File2HD.
Then, go to Media-Convert.

Step 2: On IMEEM, search for any song you like. Once you've found the song you like, click on it, and once the page loads, go the the URL bar and copy all of it.

Step 3: Go to File2HD and paste the URL into the "Get Files" Bar. Then check the "Agree to Terms and Conditions" box and check the "Audio" circle. Once the file-grabbing page loads, there should only be one file. However, that file is an flv file, and will not play on your iPod, Zune, or almost any other player. Right click on that file and then on that menu click "Copy Link Location".

Step 4: Go to Media-Convert. I know there's a ton of ads, but that's why it's free. There are 5 blue tabs. Click on the "Conversion From URL" tab. Then paste the URL you obtained from File2HD into that. You MUST change the input format to .flv, which can be found in the input format menu under movies. Then go down past the 2 huge ads and there should be an output format selection. Check MP3. Click OK.

Step 5: You may have to wait a short while, but it's always been fairly fast for me, so there shouldn't be a problem. Then it will say when it downloads the URL, and then "Data Processing". Then it will say (hopefully) that your file has been converted successfully, and then you can click download. You can then copy your mp3 to your iPod, Zune, or play it on your PC. Even if your player supports a different format, just convert it to that format with Media-Convert.

Note: If you want to share any of these files with your friends, just click the "Activate 120 days Free Hosting" button, and then it will give you a link that you can send to anyone who wishes to download that file!

That was for Imeem. Now, there is another legal website with a "custom radio", which means that you can basically play any song when you want to. First, go to metrolyrics.com, and search for the song you would like to download. Then click on the result and then click the Listen button. This will open up the song on Jango. Use the DownloadHelper in FireFox in the above mentioned article. Make sure you leave the MP3 extension. What's nice about Jango is that all the songs are legal, and they are all great quality, and can be play natively on you iPod or other portable device. Unfortunately, there have been some glitches with the Ubuntu.com download mirrors. Advice? Try downloading it a few times, and get a server close to you. I'm in VA, and I tried a download from Georgia Tech, and the kernel failed. I tried again at a different location, and it worked fine. Oh, and for crying out loud DO NOT get the beta (8.1). Just get Longterm support for it. Want Ubuntu? Go to the site.

Warsow is a free standalone first person shooter game. It is based on the Qfusion 3D engine, and aimed on the competitive scene, or the e-sports community.

The base gameplay is focussed around the art of movement, meaning moving, speed and tricks play a big part in the gameplay. Besides this, mapcontrol, aim, teamplay and fragging skills play their role too.

Another twist in gameplay is Warsow's weapon system. Warsow has two firing modes for each weapon; by picking up a weapon, you will be equipped with the standard (weak) ammo for the weapon, but when you pick up an ammo pack, you will equip your weapon with special (strong) ammo. Weapons may have different damage or slightly different behaviour depending on what ammo you use. This way, not only control of health and armor plays a role, but getting strong ammo is a valid way to create a comeback.

Think Quake 3

OpenArena is an open-source content package for ioQuake3 licensed under the GPL, effectively creating a free stand-alone game. Though OpenArena is a free replacement for id Software Inc.'s Quake 3 Arena, it is not compatible with the proprietary game.

OpenArena's gameplay is exactly the same as Quake III Arena - score frags to win the game using a balanced set of weapons each designed for different situations. Gameplay modes exist such as deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Tournament, and Capture The Flag (all modes also in the original game). OpenArena version 0.7.6 adds the new Elimination, CTF Elimination, Last Man Standing and Double Domination gametypes.

OpenArena contains Mature Content, such as a lot of blood and guts that stain the level with animation and sound accompanying it, and some characters wear next to nothing (but no nudity).

It uses the ioquake3 game engine, a project which aims to build upon id Software's Quake 3 source code release.
